Dematic partners with AutoStore to expand omni-channel integrated solution offering

LBR Staff Writer Published 04 September 2017

Dematic, a Michigan-based supplier of integrated automated technology, software and services, has signed an agreement with Norway-based scalable warehouse system AutoStore to expand its omni-channel integrated solution offering.

AutoStore is a modular storage and piece picking system that can be easily installed in low or irregularly shaped buildings and around pillars, to optimise storage density.

The agreement will enable Dematic to optimize order fulfillment and kitting with an ultra-high density storage and goods to person piece picking system.

AutoStore will enable Dematic to offer scalable solutions for dynamic order profiles and SKU velocities in line with e-commerce and omni-channel solutions.

Dematic will offer, configure, engineer, install and support AutoStore as a sub-system within its overall supply chain installations or as a standalone storage and fulfilment solution.

The piece picking and the AutoStore system will be handled by the Dematic iQ warehouse execution system.

AutoStore features five standard modules such as robot, port or workstation, grid, bin and controller. The eco-friendly solution will enable elimination of worker travel time to pick locations, picking productivity, delete dedicated pick faces, product security, inventory accuracy, order processing speed, and order accuracy.

Dematic CEO Jeff Moss said: “The Dematic suite of solutions is comprehensive; adding AutoStore to the mix enables users to obtain the ideal storage, buffering and piece picking solution. The ability to design and implement a wide variety of system configurations is critical to effectively accommodate the growing demands of omni-channel distribution in this age of acceleration.”

Dematic, a member of KION Group, operates across 100 countries. With a workforce of over 6000, the firm has implemented over 4,500 integrated systems for various sectors.
