DHL expands Parcel Europe network

LBR Staff Writer Published 05 September 2017

DHL, a part of German logistics company Deutsche Post DHL Group, has expanded its Parcel Europe network by partnering with firms in Ireland and Romania.

DHL has partnered with Ireland's state-owned postal services provider An Post and Romanian private parcel service provider Urgent Cargus.

In November 2017, DHL will also join forces with Croatian postal service firm Hrvatska Posta and Bulgarian parcel service provider Rapido for cross-border e-commerce.

The move is in line with DHL's strategy to establish a presence in all key European e-commerce markets by the end of 2018.

Deutsche Post DHL Group CEO for post, eCommerce and Parcel Jürgen Gerdes said: "We believe in the European idea and we are aware that people in Europe are longing for community. The 'United Shipping States of Europe' are more than just a new logistics network. They contribute to creating a greater sense of community among European citizens."

DHL aims to promote long-term e-commerce growth in Croatia, Bulgaria, Ireland and Romania by using DHL Parcel Connect as the service standard for cross-border B2C deliveries.

By expanding its network, DHL Parcel Europe's network encompasses 26 European countries along with the domestic market in Germany.
