DHL further expands services for parcel recipients in Germany

LBR Staff Writer Published 01 May 2018

DHL Parcel is expanding its services in Germany, by allowing recipients to choose preferred delivery times for any DHL shipment.

Earlier, the preferred time option was available for shipments for which e-tailers provide the service as a shipping option in their shops.

During the first half of this year, the company will launch the option of booking a preferred time for any shipment, irrespective of the shipping offering of e-tailer.

Recipients required to book an evening delivery within a three-hour window from 6pm to 9pm in 20 German conurbations, enabling to independently determine when they wish to receive their parcel.

The company is also planning to extend service options for the customers.

The new delivery option is suitable for recipients who are away from home during the day and expected to have their shipments delivered to their front door.

DHL Parcel’s new delivery option will help to deliver items at the agreed time and on the first attempt.

The service can be conveniently added to an order via shipment tracking or parcel notification, while the company will inform the recipient of the anticipated delivery time.

DHL Parcel CEO Achim Dünnwald said: "As market leader in the German parcel business, it is our aim to further align the delivery of parcels with the needs and wishes of parcel recipients and thus make life easier for them.

“The introduction of preferred delivery times for recipient customers is a consistent further expansion of our flexible parcel delivery offering.”

With around 510,000 employees in over 220 countries and territories, DHL Group provides a range of international express, freight transportation, e-commerce and supply chain management services.

DHL offers products and services for both private and business customers, and its solutions range from physical, hybrid and electronic letters to merchandise delivery, as well as additional services such as cash on delivery, registered mail and insured items.
