FedEx plans to invest $1.5bn to expand Indianapolis hub

FedEx is planning to invest around $1.5bn to expand its Indianapolis hub, in a bid to meet the growing demand from the customers in the region.

The investmentment will be used to expand the FedEx Express Indianapolis hub in the next seven years.

FedEx is also planning to modernize the Memphis SuperHub to enhance the operations at the location.

For employees, FedEx has also announced more than $200m in increased compensation and contribution of $1.5bn to its pension plan.

Earlier this month, FedEx announced the realignment of its specialty logistics and e-commerce solutions in a new structure under FedEx Trade Networks (FTN).

This month, the company also opened an international express and cargo center in Shanghai to expand its operational strength for customers in Asia Pacific.

The FedEx Shanghai International Express and Cargo Hub is situated at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

It offers better connectivity and convenience to the FedEx global network and overseas markets for customers in eastern China, especially those shipping to the US and Europe.

The new organization includes different elements, comprising FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Cross Border, FedEx Supply Chain and FedEx Trade Networks Transport & Brokerage.

With revenue of $62bn per annum, FedEx offers a range of transportation, e-commerce and business services for the customers and businesses across the globe.
