Singapore Post opens new regional e-commerce logistics facility
Singapore Post (SingPost) has opened a new regional eCommerce logistics hub at the Tampines Logistics Park, in a bid to expand its operations in the region.
The S$182m ($130m) three-storey facility will process parcels for delivery within Singapore and those to be shipped to destinations across the globe.
It features two warehousing floors, 150 simultaneous loading bays, in addition to an office block.
The building includes a fully automated parcel sorting facility in the first floor, which can process around 100,000 parcels per day.
With a total built-up area of 553,000ft², the facility features end-to-end sorting, shipping and returns management capabilities that allow quicker order fulfillment.
The second floor of the facility is automated to integrate end to end from the eCommerce front end platform to delivery.
SingPost has also launched Centre of Innovation (COI), which was developed with the support of Economic Development Board.
The COI, along with research institutions and institutions of higher learning, will carry out research into new logistics and postal services and products.
SingPost chairman Simon Israel said: “The opening of our Regional eCommerce Logistics Hub is another milestone in the expansion of SingPost’s eCommerce logistics network, which now spans 19 markets across Asia Pacific, Europe and the US.
“Singapore’s regional connectivity makes it ideally positioned to be a centre for eCommerce. Our Regional eCommerce Logistics Hub leverages on this geographic and infrastructural advantage.”
IE Singapore deputy CEO Chua Taik Him said: “IE Singapore has been working closely with SingPost on strategies to scale its business in the region, facilitating its projects and partnerships with both brand owners and last mile fulfilment players.”
