UK’s Whistl acquires Parcelhub and Mail Workshop

LBR Staff Writer Published 06 June 2018

UK delivery management firm Whistl has acquired Nottingham-based Parcelhub and its sister firm Mail Workshop for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2003, Mail Workshop offers ecommerce shipping and fulfilment, printed matter fulfilment, picking and packing services to its customers.

Established in 2010, Parcelhub offers a multi-carrier shipping and ecommerce customer service solution for small to medium sized e-tailers who cannot access large scale discounts available to large volume mailers.

Parcelhub is a multi-carrier shipping and ecommerce customer services solution, which serves multichannel retailers, global brands and wholesalers through providing access to more than 20 carrier partners and 300 services.

The firm distributes more than 6 million parcels per annum across the UK on behalf of multiple ecommerce, ebay and Amazon retailers.

Whistl UK CEO Nick Wells said: “We are delighted to welcome Parcelhub and Mail Workshop into the Whistl family. It is a business that shares the same values as Whistl – providing excellent customer services cost effectively and also identified a gap in the market providing solutions for clients that could not access the services and discounts available to large volume mailers.

In July 2017, Whistl also acquired Prism DM, as part of its growth strategy into the fulfilment market.

Parcelhub managing director Mark Rosenberg said: “We have got to a stage in the development of the company that we need the extra firepower from Whistl to enable us to maximise our potential and to create opportunities for further growth.”

Even after the completion of the deal, Rosenberg will continue in the same role and operate the business from Nottingham under the Parcehub and Mail Workshop brands.

Whistl provides delivery management services across business mail, parcels and doordrop media both in the UK and internationally.

The company is a major provider of downstream access mail (DSA) services, and handles more than 50% of bulk business mail in the UK.
