WiseTech Global buys US parcel shipping TMS provider Pierbridge

LBR Staff Writer Published 21 June 2018

WiseTech Global has acquired Pierbridge, a US-based company which provides parcel shipping transportation management solution (TMS) to medium and large shippers.

Pierbridge, which is based headquartered in Massachusetts, provides an enterprise-class, multi-carrier, parcel shipping solution, which simplifies carrier selection, booking, label printing, tracking, invoice reconciliation and BI reporting.

The company, which has development offices in the UK and Finland, offers its parcel shipping TMS direct to customers and through solutions providers including Pitney Bowes, Logistyx and others.

Pierbridge will remain under the leadership of its managing director Bob Malley. The company will continue to work with its partners to deliver parcel shipping TMS solutions to global shippers.

The company will also have access to the 7,000 logistics providers across the world that use integrated supply chain execution solutions of WiseTech.

WiseTech Global founder and CEO Richard White said e-commerce is driving significant parcel shipment growth internationally and domestically.

“Pierbridge’s parcel shipping TMS offering allows freight forwarders, warehouses and shippers, such as online retailers, to more efficiently manage high volumes of parcel shipments, and will enable our customers to ship with US-based global couriers.

White said: “Pierbridge’s parcel TMS is a scalable technology we can converge and expand with our next-generation e-commerce solutions as we drive deeper into global e-commerce fulfilment.”

Pierbridge’s parcel TMS solutions will be integrated with WiseTech’s CargoWise One platform, allowing the customers and partners of the Massachusetts firm to expand control of parcel shipping processes well beyond North America.

CargoWise One allows logistics service providers Across 130 countries to implement highly complex transactions in areas like freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing, shipping, tracking, land transport, ecommerce, and cross-border compliance.

The transaction follows WiseTech’s other recent logistics solutions purchases in Canada, France, Belgium, Ireland, North America, Australasia, Italy, Germany, Turkey, the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Taiwan.
